The making of Hannah Parker’s printed pieces were inspired by a video about a group of London women in 1950’s and 60’s. Described as housewives who spent time together carving linocuts of imagery about their everyday life, they then handprinted original dynamic designs onto fabrics that they sewed into clothes, curtains, placemats and tablecloths. They were artists.
Ideas for creating a fabric Shift and Robe – also displayed as part of Hannah’s exhibition – developed organically during the fabric printing process.
