ABOUT THIS EVENT – PAPER BEAD MAKING
About the facilitator:
Katrina Iosia is an arts educator and artist who trained in printmaking and studio practice and is highly regarded in the digital design and art fields. She’s recently relocated from Auckland, NZ to Cairns to deliver art education and experiences with NorthSite Contemporary Arts.
Katrina has built this school holiday program to launch NorthSite Art Studios at 55 Greenslopes Street, Cairns.
So, book in and bring your kids along in January to enjoy the hands-on fun and creative skills development!
About the program:
“This workshop teaches you to turn unused papers into effective wearable art pieces – perfect for keeping kids entertained at home, and for affordable hand-made gifts.”
This workshop involves repurposing materials to create something new that you can then wear as a necklace or bracelet. You can paint/draw layers and contrasting patterns to make highly unique colours and designs or use the supplied decorative and recycled papers. The paper will then be cut, rolled, and glued into fun and unique paper beads!
We will finish the session by threading our designs together – into wearable jewellery.
Materials supplied: papers, scissors, paints, glues, rolling sticks and threads.
Participants are invited to bring any sentimental or favourite coloured/textures papers from home if they wish. Otherwise just turn up and use what inspires you!
Please arrive at least 5 minutes early to settle in.
On street parking is available on Greenslopes Street, near the Chinese Friendship Gardens and in front of NorthSite Art Studios,
