This is a one day workshop exploring the basic skills you need to create digital art and projection. In a hands-on, small group workshop we will cover software options such as: photoshop, after effects, premiere pro or davinci resolve and resolume arena and hardware such as media players and projectors. Basic computer skills are essential and some experience with similar softwares will be a bonus. This workshop is intended to give you some ideas about how you might use these tools in your current artistic practice and meet some like minded local artists you might collaborate with.
About the facilitator:
Melania Jack is a local artist working within electronic sound, digital art, projection and performance platforms. One half of the electronic, experimental art duo; The Ironing Maidens. who have turned irons and ironing boards into electronic instruments to explore themes of gender, domestic labour, and technology. Melania’s work with the Ironing Maidens involves designing, filming, editing and mapping the projected visuals into washing lines, machines and other physical areas of their performance spaces. The visuals support the messaging of the live show and have evolved into their own stand alone work; as projection installations.
In April 2022, Melania developed a piece (Strike) for the window space of OuterSpace Gallery at The Judith Wright Centre Brisbane. An expanded iteration of this work was presented at NorthSite Contemporary Gallery for their Sounded Out event in May and the final work – Pressing Topics, will be presented in December/January at NorthSite in Gallery 2.
