Postponement NorthSite Opening Event – Artists’ Party. COVID-19

Dear Friends

Given the unfolding global situation, we are making the disappointing but measured decision to postpone the NorthSite Opening Event, scheduled in a fortnight’s time.

Thank you to every single one of you who have pre-ordered 301 tickets so far.

While there are currently no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Far North Queensland we are following the WHO advice that recommends social distancing to help prevent the spread of the illness.

As people are travelling from cities and from remote Indigenous communities for this event, we are making this call now, as we want to give clarity and sufficient time for you to reconsider your travel plans.

The most important thing to us, is the wellness of our artists and audiences. We are mindful of the need to all play a small part to protect people with vulnerable immunity within the wide web of communities that we support and all belong to.

There will be another time.

It’s been a long 18 months away from home for our organisation, and the economic impact of the travel ban has felt in Cairns for some months. The cancellations are devastating but we’ll band together.

It’s challenging times and this is beyond disappointing for us as we are so looking forward to sharing our exhibitions and celebrating these current artists, but we’ll keep rolling and demonstrating innovation and resilience.

We have been planning ways to share more online content with our audiences with the developing situation so keep an eye out for artist interviews and take overs in the coming weeks.

We really, absolutely, cannot wait to come together again.

Thanks for your ongoing support.
