NorthSite Exhibitions Call Outs 2025 and 2026

NorthSite Contemporary Arts is seeking expressions of interest for its 2025-26 exhibition program. The opportunity is open to artists, curators, collectives, and organisations based in Far North Queensland.

Call out open from Friday 17th May – Call out closes 12pm 28th June – Successful applications announced – August 9th.

There are two opportunities that artists can apply for:


Opportunity 1

‘Thresholds’ 2025 group exhibition

Far North Queensland artists are invited to submit an artwork of any media in response to the theme of ‘thresholds’, for a group exhibition in Gallery 1 and the Void for Season 1, 2025.

A threshold takes you from one place into another, and when you’re about to start something new, you’re also on a threshold. A threshold is a point of departure or transition.

Selection criteria:

Applications will be assessed by the selection panel according to the following criteria:

  • Artistic merit/quality of proposed work
  • Relevance to the theme
  • Evidence of practice and connection to FNQ


Opportunity 2

Gallery and project wall exhibitions 2025-26

Artists need to provide a written statement about their proposed body of work/project and why it is suitable for exhibition at NorthSite. Artists must also nominate their preferred exhibition space, noting that it is not possible to provide every successful applicant with their preferred space.

Selection criteria:

Applications will be assessed by the selection panel according to the following criteria:

  • Artistic merit/quality of proposed work/s
  • Suitability of the proposed project to NorthSite Contemporary Arts
  • Evidence of practice and connection to FNQ
  • Opportunities for audience engagement


Artists can apply for both opportunities, a separate application is required for each opportunity.

NorthSite offers successful applicants the following:

  • Management of exhibition administration and sales, which includes a 40% commission (+GST)
  • An artist fee, commensurate with NAVA rates, determined by the level of practice, scale of exhibition and number of artists.
  • An opening event (with cash bar)
  • Insurance of all works whilst on NorthSite premises
  • Presence on the NorthSite website and social media
  • Advertising and promotion of the exhibition
  • Secure and climate- controlled exhibition space
  • Maintaining and staffing the exhibition


For both opportunities, the following information is required:

  • Completed application form
  • Short CV / bio listing relevant education and artistic achievements.
  • 10 images of proposed work/body of work, or indicative works if still in progress
  • Social media handle/profile
  • Details of potential public program/s

Please note submitting an EOI is not a guarantee of exhibition and/or preferred gallery space. NorthSite presents an annual exhibition program comprising internally curated exhibitions, partnerships and touring exhibitions, in addition to projects by independent artists and collectives by expression of interest.
